With the economy not being so great, more and more brides are trying to cut costs while still having a fabulous wedding. One way to achieve this is by making things yourself.
My husband sent me a link to this awesome blog full of wonderful ideas for a Do it Yourself Wedding. iDiY has tons of free downloads for place cards, patterns you can use on labels and invites, vintage clip art and lots of fantastic ideas. You must check it out!
After spending some time on iDiY, I want to have a party or something just to have a reason to create something beautiful.

From my point of view wedding planning should be done with fun and excitement. All the arrangements should be done on time. Before making any arrangements a well planned list of things should be maintained and followed. Decide about whether you will make all the arrangements by yourself or you will hire a wedding planner.

It is a great cost cutting idea to make your own items for your wedding. You could also incorporate handmade items that are made by someone else, along with your own work. This could really make for a very elegant event for less money.

Karen,
Wanted to let you know that I don’t see any photo coming up on this post. Congrats on being featured in the Fall & Winter 2009 Weddingbells magazine too by the way. I was also reading through your blog and loved the “trash the Dress concept you mentioned a while ago. Think I’m going to end of featuring this on wedding blog in the future.
On a personal note, I wanted to know if you are interested in exchanging blog links. Would you like your blog listed on my blogroll with just your website name or some other text?
On a business note, friends of mine at Exclusively Weddings said if I ever ran into a quality wedding related website (like this one) to ask if you might be interested in listing them on your blog? Is it possible to have them listed in your navigation or footer under a category like “Wedding Resources” or “Links”?. They might be open to other options if you have any other ideas. Of course, I’m sure they could pay you a fee by PayPal for your time.
Enough about them I look forward to hearing back from you either way and keep up these great posts!!

Sincerely,

I love the DIY idea. You can still have a wonderful event even if you do a lot yourself or by from those who do handmade. It actually can be very elegant and for a lot less.
